The Walker Wedding- Grand Cayman Destination Wedding

I am so excited to share these images with you!  It has been a dream of mine for a long time to do a destination wedding.  So this year when I was writing my 2016 company goals I put down destination wedding.  I was dreaming big.  And guess what?  My dream came true.  Not only did I get to do a destination wedding, I got to do the wedding for some of my favorite people.

I have known this family for 14+ years.  The beautiful mother-of-the-bride works at the preschool my kids attended.  We have worked together on numerous projects with the preschool and have become good friends.  I did her niece's wedding 2 years ago, her nephew's senior pictures last summer and now I had the privilege of doing her daughter's wedding.  So I have come to know and LOVE this entire family over the years.

These two were engaged for a long time and had to change plans and postpone things for a number of reasons and so they finally decided to just do a cruise with family and a few close friends and then do a reception back in Colorado a few weeks later.  Unfortunately I couldn't go on the whole cruise with them, so I just met them in Grand Cayman where they stopped for a day to have a wedding on the beach.

Not only did I get to go for the destination wedding....my amazing husband got to come with me.  After all, I needed a helper!  A kid-free trip to a beach?  If I must.

The hardest part about this whole project was trying to figure out which pictures to share with you.  We spent the whole day together on Grand Cayman and it hard to capture all of that in a little blog post.  So you are going to be overwhelmed with beautiful pictures of a beautiful couple.

The night before the wedding I kept looking at the weather and it said 100% chance of rain from 11-2.  Right during the wedding!  Oh no.  I prayed, fretted, worried and ran all over town the next morning trying to find some umbrellas.  Apparently my prayers, fretting, worry worked because the sun was out and it was a sunny and bright day.  But BOY was it HOT!  Like 105 heat index hot (I know because I looked it up).  So if these pictures look like everyone was hot and red in the face, it because it was hot and everyone was a little overheated.

The day began like this......

The wedding took place at a little tucked away beach called Smith's Cove.  It is kind of off of the beaten path and away from the tourist spots.  There were still people swimming and playing on the beach during the wedding and pictures but luckily is wasn't too many people.  Look at this set up!

It was then time for a quick champagne toast and cake for the bride and groom.  The guests had to wait for cake until they were at dinner on the cruise that night.

The flower girl and ring bearer got to finish off the cake!

A whirlwind of family pictures and wedding party pictures ensued.  Not going to lie, I just about passed out I was so hot while taking these pictures.  Thankfully I dipped my feet in the water and that helped a ton!

After the wedding ceremony the family and friends all headed back to the cruise ship to change clothes and explore the island a bit.  Which means Chris and I got Brittany and Nick to ourselves.  We tried a few restaurants so we could cool off and have a bite to eat with no luck.  A lot of places were closed after lunch and before dinner.  So we drove around a bit and stopped to take a few pictures along the way.  It was actually kind of nice so that we could cool off and just relax in the car.

We finally found a place to eat.  We sat out on the back patio and had pizza and drinks.  Can I just tell you how much I love that Brittany ordered a strawberry daiquiri with a white wedding dress?  While we were waiting for our pizza, I HAD to take some pictures of them against this yellow wall.  So bright and fun!  Just fit the feeling of the day.  We had such a fun time hanging out with these two.  They were so relaxed and willing to try anything and were an absolute pleasure to be with.

After lunch/dinner/snack time we headed back to Smith's Cove so we could "trash the dress".  You will have to stay tuned for the next blog to those pictures.  They are amazing and so much fun!  Here are a few to whet your appetite.

Brittany and Nick, we couldn't be happier for you.  You guys were not only a pleasure to work with, but downright fun to hang out with.  May God richly bless you in your marriage!

Congratulations for making it to the end of this post!  Thanks for hanging in there with me.  Which picture was your favorite?  Don't you want to do a destination wedding now?
