Highlighting Your Style- Senior Pictures in Littleton Colorado

It is the beginning of one of my favorite photo seasons.  It is Senior Picture Time!

I love the youthful excitement and joy that I am able to capture.  Spending one-on-one time photographing these Littleton kids makes me happy!  They are ready to tackle life and have an exciting future ahead of them.  They are heading into some of the best years of their lives.

I am starting a blog post series to help prepare seniors and their parents for one of the best parts of their senior year.....Senior Pictures!  It is a time to showcase and highlight the youthful joy and high school experience of Colorado Seniors.

Today, I am going to start with Style.  What is your style?  It is something you should think about before having your pictures taken.  What is your look?  Are you a cutting edge fashionista?  Or are you more of a classic beauty?  For guys, are you comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, or do you like collared shirts and khakis?  Do you like to get dressed up the day before your big game in a tie?  Then let's highlight that!

Here is an excerpt from the Senior Guide I have created to help my senior clients have the best experience possible.

Are you in the market for senior pictures?  I have created a great resource for seniors and their parents.  If you want to see the entire guide, comment below or email me at and I will happily send a copy to you.

The Donelson Family- Extended Family Pictures in Golden, Colorado

I love doing extended family pictures.  What better place to do
extended family picture then in enchanting Golden, Colorado?

It is such a joy to watch families come together and see the
cousins interact with each other.

I love seeing the love in Grandma's eyes as she takes in her family.
I can imagine myself some day with my boys and their wives and
children gathered around and it makes me a bit misty-eyed.

Spending a little extra time with an extended family in Colorado makes my heart sing.
It allows me time to get to know each family a little bit more.

And I have more time to catch more candid moments, like these.

Mamas and their babies.

I loved posed pictures.  They are the ones the go on Christmas Cards
and in the frames.  But it is the candid and brief moments frozen in
time that make our hearts swell.

There is nothing like having a sister.

Look at all of these beautiful girls.

These kids are adorable!  And they were so much fun to run around with.

If you haven't ever done big family pictures, I encourage you to do so.
There is no time like the present.  You won't regret it.
We did our big family pictures about 18 months ago and I LOVE those pictures.
They are some of my favorite pictures of ALL time.

If you are interested in having your family pictures taken, let me know!

How to Improve Your Online Presence

Head shots.  They are becoming more and more necessary in this modern world of online presence.  It seems like every company is requiring head shots of their employees for websites or online purposes.  People are always wanting updated pictures for their LinkedIn, Facebook page or even an online dating site.  Who doesn't want an updated and flattering picture of themselves?  So often people use old, outdated pictures or pictures in which they have to crop other people out making them lesser quality or unflattering.

Here are some hints to make sure you are putting your best
foot forward in your online presence.

1.  Don't use a picture that is outdated.  Make sure your picture is from the
last year or so.  If your picture is more than 2 years old or if you have
drastically changed your is time for a new one.

I changed my logo and my brand and had new head shots done to make
my online presence more consistent.  Thanks to my friend Maren Miller for
taking these pictures for me!  See....even photographers need to have head shots taken.

2.  Make sure it is a flattering picture.  Do you have 3 chins in the picture?
Are you wearing your old, grubby clothes?
Then it is time to change your picture.

3.  Where was the picture taken?  Is the background cluttered or ugly.
Does it cause your eye to go to the background of the picture instead of
to your smiling face?  The background should be plain so as to draw the eye
to your face.  Slightly off center is also nice for head shots.  It makes it feel higher
quality and more pleasing to the eye.  Your face and upper body should be the largest
thing in the picture.  Make sure it isn't a full body shot that shows
more the background than you.

4.  Are you trying to look like a model with a pouty face?  Is it a selfie?
Are you holding an alcoholic drink?  If so...that picture has to go!
Make sure the picture shows your entire face and that you are
smiling and look friendly in the picture.

5.  Is there another person in the picture with you?  Did you crop someone
out of the picture?  That usually lowers the quality of the picture
making it look old and unprofessional.

If you run your own business or people hire to you do a service for them,
then you should have your head shots professionally done.  Those pictures
should be on your email and on your website.  People feel more comfortable
working with you if they can see a nice picture and have an idea of what you look like.
It is worth the investment of having pictures done.  Trust me!

Here are a few head shots I have done in the last few weeks.

Henley- 6 months

Tutus and Pearls!  What more could I ask for?
How about 2 girls in tutus and pearls?

This picture of Adley from 3 years ago is still one of my favorites!

When Hollie said she wanted to re-create this picture with little Henley, I couldn't wait.

How fun to be able to compare these sweet girls!

Mirror, Mirror on the ground......who's the cutest girl around?

I think it is Henley!

Adley has changed a bit in the last three years too.

I am so thankful for this family.  My baby's first year clients are
always my favorites but this family is truly amazing and I am so
thankful they area  part of my LiLo family.

I can't believe that this little girl is 6 months already!

I can't wait to see her again in a few months.
